GCHQ, on behalf of Her Majesty's Government is to recognise the vital service of those who worked at Bletchley Park
and its outstations during World War II, by presenting surviving veterans with a Bletchley Park Commemorative Badge.
Those who served at Bletchley and are sadly no longer alive are currently listed in a Posthumous Roll of Honour held
and maintained by the Bletchley Park Trust. The next of kin of the deceased or their legal successor cannot apply
for the retrospective issue of the commemorative badge but they can have the deceased persons name added to the
Roll of Honour.

The Bletchley Park Commemorative Badge
Surviving veterans who on 1st July 2009 fit one of the following criteria, are eligible for this badge.

Those who were employed by the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) at Bletchley Park or its outstations during World War II. |
|
|
Those who served in the Armed Forces at Bletchley Park or its outstations. |
|
|
Those who served in the 'Y' Services of the Armed Forces collecting material which was sent to Bletchley Park ('Y' Services was the generic title given to the interception by the military of enemy communications). |
|
|
Those who served in Special Liaison Units (SLU's) or Special Communications Units (SCU's) on the dissemination of ULTRA intelligence material that was deployed to British and Allied Headquarters. |
|
|
Those who served in the Radio Security Service (RSS) which comprised both GPO operators and radio amateurs intercepting the communications of enemy intelligence services. |
|
|
Those who worked in the special team at the GPO Research Establishment, Dollis Hill on the development of specialist equipment to support the work of GC&CS, including the development of COLOSSUS, the world's first computer. |
