The Veterans
Concessionary Travel Scheme (VCTS) is a new concession available to those
Veterans who receive an ongoing payment under the War Pensions Scheme or
Guaranteed Income Payment under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.
War widows, war widowers and dependants who receive the same payments will
also be eligible under this scheme.
Those applicants who are eligible will be issued with an Oyster Photocard,
which will enable them to travel free at any time within London on bus,
tube, Dockland Light Railway, tram and London Overground services and when
travelling on these services except on bus or tram can take up to four
children under eleven with you for free..
It will
particularly benefit those veterans who are under
sixty and those who live outside London who are not eligible for a Freedom
Pass.
For those in Derbyshire who need to use the transport
services in London and are eligible for a VCTS Oyster Photocard telephone
Transport for London on the number given below for an application pack.
You will be sent an application form which you should complete and then
return it along with a photocopy of your Awards Notification or annual uprating
letter from the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA), showing your
entitlement to an ongoing payment under the War Pensions Scheme or Armed
Forces Compensation Scheme and two passport size photographs.
