The Mobility Bureau is the sole provider of electric powered
vehicles (EPV's) to The Royal British Legion.
The Mobility Bureau provides the mobility
solutions to any ex-Service person or their dependants where a need has been
identified by a Royal British Legion Caseworker.
When a need has been identified the County Welfare Officer contacts The
Mobility Bureau who then tasks an independent Occupational Therapist to visit the
client. Following assessment of the client's
mobility needs by the Occupational Therapist, The Mobility Bureau the makes a
recommendation to the County Welfare Officer who will then order
an appropriate
EPV once funding has been met.
The
Mobility Bureau will endeavour to source almost any vehicle considered
appropriate to the client's needs as identified by the Occupational Therapist.
The most usually supplied are distinctively marked and given model names such as
the Cadet, the Legionnaire, the Major, and the Volunteer.
The Mobility Bureau will supply the relevant model of EPV together with any
necessary adaptations. Delivery is carried out by a Mobility Bureau engineer
and is both detailed and thorough. New EPV's come with a three year warranty,
servicing and insurance package, which is renewed by the Royal British Legion
on an annual basis at no cost to the client. Consumables such as tyres,
bulbs and batteries are the responsibility of the user.
Class III vehicles, which are EPV's capable of 8 mph, require licensing for use
on the road, the necessary documentation is completed by The Royal British
Legion.
For ex-Service Men or Women who consider that they are in need of help
and live in Derbyshire they should initially contact the County Manager or the
County Welfare Officer on Poppy Support in Derbyshire.
