Fundraising Ideas (Community)

 By fundraising for The Royal British Legion, your Community could play a vital role in giving day to day support to thousands of serving and ex-Service people and their families throughout Derbyshire and the United Kingdom.  Here are some suggestions of how you could help us, or you could come up with your own fundraising ideas:

*   Organise a 'Poppy Walk' around your local area (full organisers details available from The Royal British Legion).

*   Hold a 'Summer Fete' with raffles, tombola, face painting, etc.

*   Do you have green fingers?  Why not open your garden to the public for a day / weekend.

*   Hold an 'Easter Egg Hunt' around your local park or village.

*   If you have a stream or village pond, why not hold a 'Duck Race' with each participant paying a small fee for their duck.

*   Get dressed up for the night and host a 'Midsummer Ball'.  Local companies may be willing to donate items for an auction or raffle as well.

*   Have some old fashioned, sober fun at a 'Tea Dance' and try out some of those ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ steps with a partner.

*   Hold a 'Bingo Night',  a great way to have fun and to get to know people in your community

*   Why not have a 'Wine Tasting Night',  get a local supermarket or off licence to sponsor the event and ask participants for a minimum donation.

*   Why not hold a  'Pub Quiz' - ask your local publican to host a quiz night.  It could be general knowledge or a specialised quiz such as music or sport.  Teams pay an entry fee which is donated to the Poppy Appeal.

*    Hold a 'Coffee Morning'.

*   Hold a   'Summer Concert', 'Candlelight Carol Concert' or 'Remembrance Concert' - get your local music society, church choir or school orchestra involved to perform an evening of music.

*   Host a 'Christmas Fair' and 'Santa’s Grotto' at your local community centre or village hall.

*   Have a ' Valentine’s Day Dance'.

*   Hold a   'Pancake Race' - participants toss their pancakes over obstacles while running along a course.

*   Ask local companies, artists and crafts people to donate items for an 'Auction'.

*   Fundraise and do your bit for the environment with a 'Jumble Sale' and / or 'Bric-a-Brac Sale'.

*    Get a group of friends together for a 'Clothes Swap Party' with an entry fee.

*   Hold a 'Car Boot Sale' - charge a set amount for each vehicle.

*   If you have a local golf club, why not hold a 'Golf Tournament' and get local businesses to enter a team.

*    Why not 'Parachute Jump' (details of Skydiving company available from The Royal British Legion).

*    Hold a 'Sponsored Cycle Ride'.

*   Enter a 'Sponsored Run' (e.g. Derby 10k run or Nottingham half-marathon).

*   Take part in the Tough Guy event www.toughguy.co.uk .
