The Derbyshire County Annual Conference for 2010 was hosted by Wirksworth Branch. It took place in
Wirksworth Town Hall on Saturday 16th January 2010 and it commenced at 2:00pm.
Due to illness the guest speaker for this years Conference, John Farmer, The National Vice-Chairman
of The Royal British Legion was unable to attend. The County Chaplin, Canon Bowers of Mickleover,
was also unable to attend again due to illness.
The Conference was well attended by County Officers, County Committee Members and there was Delegates
from nineteen Branches. A number of Visitors also attended Conference.
The Conference began with a Parade of Standards. The President, Bill Else, opened Conference but as
the weather over the previous two weeks had been very bad and it threatened to deteriorate during the
Conference did not give an address. The County Chairman, Bernard Page, then took over the running of
Conference.

The County Treasurer, John Cam, presented the County's Financial Report and Auditor's Statement. This was proposed and accepted.

Bill Else was re-appointed County President and will hold the position for a further three years.
Positions on the County Committee and County Conference Committee were also settled.
For the first time in many years a Branch Motion was put to Conference this
was submitted by Long Eaton Branch. The motion was 'This Conference requests that the Membership
Council considers allowing Parade Marshalls and Standard Bearers who are eligible, be allowed to wear
their Veterans Badge on all occasions whilst carrying out their duties not just on Armed Forces Day'.
The motion was carried and will now be put to the National Annual Conference.

During Open Forum the County Manager, Paul Mulingani, talked about Welfare
matters and the County Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator, Colin Picken gave an update on this years
Appeal which stands at £562,218.73.

The President presented the County Standard to Malcolm Jarvis and the Union Flag to Kevin Townend. Stuart Allen, County Committee Member, then gave a vote of thanks to all who had taken part in the Conference. This was followed by the National Anthem. The County Chairman then closed Conference.
