Allestree Women's Section 80th Anniversary

Allestree Women's Section Branch of the Royal British Legion has just celebrated the 80th Anniversary of its formation. It is only the second branch in Derbyshire to reach this milestone.


A celebration party to mark the occasion was held on Tuesday 2nd November 2010 at the Branch's Headquarters, in Cornhill, Allestree.  At the party a certificate was presented by the Chairman of the Derbyshire County Women's Section, Angela Swift to Pat Godfrey the Branch Treasurer. On presenting the certificate, she praised the Branch on reaching its 80th Anniversary.  The certificate goes with all of those other awards that Allestree Branch has been received over the years for its 'Efficiency and Progress', including winning a national trophy.


Mrs Mary Middleton MBE, Allestree Women's Section Branch Chairman gave a brief history of the Branch and the welfare work carried out by the Branch in Allestree and surrounding district.


Entertainment for the evening was provide by Audrey Smith and Barry Fletcher, the party ended with a buffet.
