Poppy Appeal Launch 2007

The Royal British Legion - Derbyshire County  Poppy Appeal Launch 2007 took place on Friday 26 October 2007 at the Derby County Football Club's Moor Farm Training Centre, Morley Road, Oakwood, Derby.  The Appeal was launched by the Derby County's Manager Mr Billy Davies when he bought the first Poppy from Mrs Judith Wright and her daughter Miss Laura Wright.

Also present at the launch was The County Chairman, Mr Bernard Page; The County Poppy Appeal Organiser, Mr Colin Picken; The County Field Welfare Officer, Mr Paul Mulingani and his Staff and Members of Derbyshire County Committee.

Mrs Judith Wright is the mother of Drummer Thomas Wright of the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.  Killed on Sunday 24 June 2007 whilst serving in Afghanistan, he was aged 21.  Miss Laura Wright is the late soldiers sister.  The family come from Ripley, Derbyshire.
