The Derbyshire County Members Newsletter has a new Editor, he is John P. Irwin and he is the Branch Secretary/Treasurer of Long Eaton Branch. In addition to the Newsletter, which John will continue to produce, he is going to publish a County Magazine three times a year and this will be called 'The Derbyshire Legion'.

Derbyshire is a big county and the idea of the
magazine is to try and bring Branches and Clubs closer together. This was the job of the Groups but
alas with one thing and another the Groups are not that well supported any more. The main reason is
travel, cold wet winter nights, summer holidays and a number of other reasons. With 'The Derbyshire
Legion' magazine all you have to do is write or type an article, take photos on your travels and then send
them to him or to the County Office and he will do the rest.
Of course the magazine will not be any good without you the Members in the Branches and Clubs,
we need every Royal British Legion Branch and Club in the County to contribute content however large or small.
The following should give you some idea of the articles, stories, reports etc. that are needed for the magazine
or you may have some thoughts of your own – as long as it is of interest to other Legion Members in Derbyshire
send it to John, his contact details will be given below.

Interesting events your Branch or Club has been involved with such as Fundraising, Remembrance, an interesting trip or an event in your community. |
The magazine is not intended for advertising forthcoming Branch Events because of the frequency it will be published. However you can tell us about them afterwards, whether they were a success or not. (You will still be able to use the members newsletter to advertise your forth coming events). |
If your Branch is affiliated to or you are involved with any of the local Cadet Forces we would like to hear about it. |
You might have a project you need help with, you can share it with other Branches, you might get the help you need |
There are always Members in every Branch or Club that have done interesting things in their life, service career, civilian career or the work they do for the Legion, you can tell us about them, of course with their permission. |
Tell us about your area of Derby, your town or village as well as your Branch or Club. |
Poems are always welcome. |
