SSAFA Forces Help

SSAFA Forces Help has been serving the Armed Forces and their families for well over a 100 years and work that is as vital today as it has ever been. The continually evolving support services SSAFA Forces Help provide are driven by the current needs of the Service community.  They are particularly relevant in today's high pressure military environment, where our contemporary veterans and serving personnel alike often experience different problems from the soldiers, sailors and airmen of earlier conflicts.  Reservists too, heavily engaged in current operations, have equal call on our services.


SSAFA Forces Help can help if you have a Service connection and support those who serve in our Armed Forces and those who used to serve - even if it was only for a single day. Dependants of those who served are also cared for.


The support offered reflect the financial, practical and emotional issues people face today and they are freely available to virtually everybody with a Service connection.  Whatever your status, you can be certain that SSAFA Forces Help will treat your enquiry as confidential and ensure that you are always treated with dignity and respect.


You and your immediate dependants are eligible for our help if:

You are currently serving
You have served one paid day's service in any of our Armed Forces
You have completed one year's service in the Reserve Forces, one day's service on operations or you have done National Service
You served one paid day in the Mercantile Marine including the Korea, Suez, Falklands and Gulf operations
You have completed one year's service in the Association's Nursing and Welfare Service
As a UK citizen, you have received one day's pay whilst stationed overseas as part of the Armed Forces and for a period ending no more than six months after your return to the UK
